A study guide is not simply a shorter textbook. It should help you see the structure of a topic, locate weak areas and practise retrieving information. Step 1: build a clean source pack
Begin with the material your course actually assesses: the syllabus or learning objectives, assigned chapters, lecture slides, your own notes and any instructor review sheet. Step 3: ask for an outline before explanations
A narrow first request is easier to inspect than a request for a complete guide. Ask the tool to map each course objective to the relevant source sections. Require it to mark missing information instead of filling gaps from general knowledge.

Create the section for objective 3 only. Use no more than 250 words plus one comparison table. Include two common misconceptions and four short-answer questions. After every claim that contains a number or definition, add the source page in brackets. If the source is unclear, write “check source” rather than guessing.
Step 5: verify the guide against the sources
Do not fact-check an AI output by asking the same AI whether it is correct. Return to the original material. Pay special attention to dates, formulas, definitions, exceptions, quotations and claims that combine information from different sources.
